    Selection Process

The selection process generally involves a written test and a skill test (except for Sub Officer post). For the post of Sub Officer (Post No. 794), the selection process involves a written test followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and a Detailed Medical Examination (DME).

Written Test: Candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the written test. The written test assesses the theoretical and practical knowledge of the candidate relevant to the post. There is negative marking for wrong answers.

Skill Test: For posts other than Sub Officer, candidates qualifying the written test are called for a skill test. The skill test is purely on a 'go-no-go' basis, and the marks obtained in the skill test are not considered for the final selection. The final selection is based on the scores obtained in the written test.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET): For the post of Sub Officer, candidates who meet the PME norms based on the written test marks are shortlisted for the PET in a 1:50 ratio (maximum). The PET has two stages, and candidates must qualify in each stage. The events are conducted on a 'go-no-go' basis. Candidates participate at their own risk.

Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Only those who clear the PET will undergo a DME. A selection panel will be drawn from those qualified in the DME, in order of written test marks. There will be only one chance to pass the DME.
